NHF is an independent, evangelical church located in Westchester County, NY, approx. 30 miles north of Manhattan. We have about 70-80 adults (families and singles) of diverse age and background attending our Sunday worship (contemporary style) with about 35 children (and counting). It is a multi-ethnic congregation with approximately 70% of the congregation of 2nd generation Korean-American descent. Our vision statement is, "New Hope Fellowship exists to behold and broadcast the majesty and mercy of God in the entirety of our lives, individual and corporate, unto the coming Kingdom of Christ". Our passion is for everyone to know God deeply and to make him known gloriously.
We are seeking a full time senior pastor who is passionately in love with Jesus and with whom our vision resonates. In considering the ministry strengths and attributes that are most important to us, we prioritized the dimensions of shepherding as follows:
1. Preaching/Teaching: Our senior pastor serves as our primary source of theologically trained biblical teaching through the preaching of God's Word and the overseeing of Bible study ministries. It is critical to us that our senior pastor has strong preaching and teaching giftings so as to appropriately set spiritual priorities through a proper perspective of God's Word.
2. Pastoral counseling: We are focused on the development of personal relationships with Christ as well as with one another as a community of believers. It is important to us that our senior pastor is an integral part of this community and has pastoral and counseling gifts that will help build this dimension of our church body.
3. Leadership/Governance: Our church has an established vision, strategy and ministry infrastructure. We recognize the need to continue to further develop these areas in our church and would like a senior pastor who can contribute to this through strong leadership and governance capabilities.
In shepherding our church toward our God-given vision, key responsibilities of our senior pastor would include:
- Encouraging and leading the congregation to walk by the Spirit, living a prayer-filled life
- Leading and empowering a team of elders and ministry team leaders through discipleship/leadership training
- Providing spiritual mentoring and counseling by providing a biblical perspective on every aspect of our lives (e.g. marriage, professional, school, children, etc.)
- Focusing on missions, to have NHF obey Christ's commission to proclaim the gospel to every nation
- Preaching and leading the Sunday worship service
- Overseeing small group ministry and youth pastor/ministry
