Job Description:
This full time position reports to the senior pastor and is responsible for all paid and volunteer positions involved with the Middle School Youth Ministry at Allentown Presbyterian Church in Allentown, New Jersey. Currently the program is ministering to approximately 100 students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade and is supported by approximately 40 adult shepherds. Each grade has its own program night, which runs for approximately 2 hours each, in addition to Fall and Spring weekend retreats and other outings.
The Coordinator will oversee the entire Middle School Youth Ministry, which includes but is not limited to recruiting, training and supervising all leaders, creating a warm, welcoming climate that builds community, as well as making provision for the planning and implementation of all Sunday school and Youth Group activities for youth in grades 6 through 8. The Coordinator has the ability to direct the entire middle school youth ministry in consultation with the Senior Pastor.
Duties include: • Maintaining and updating Attendance Records, Mailing Lists and a Youth Directory for 6th, 7thand 8th Grade Youth Groups, SS classes and worship (including youth of the church and youth of the community) • Planning a major events calendar at least one year in advance and distribute to parents, volunteers and staff in September • Timely follow-up contact to absentee kids, shepherds, teachers • Creating and distributing Monthly Youth Newsletter • Ensuring that all youth ministry announcements are developed and distributed in a timely and creative way including the Church Newsletter, Youth Flyers, Articles, Bulletin and Worship and SS Announcements as needed • Coordinating monthly mission opportunities for the Middle School youth. • Planning and coordinating fundraisers held by the Middle School Youth Ministry • Planning and coordinating fall and spring retreats for the Middle School youth • Composing and distributing letters to parents as requested • Collecting forms, registrations and money for youth programs • Supervising seminary interns designated to work with the Middle School Youth Ministry. • Other administrative duties as requested by the Senior Pastor
